This is a example of a conceptual music video because the music video shows evidence of exploring the theme 'Tea', for instance I could denote visual images of a cup of tea at the background, which illustrates the theme to the audiences.
The use of technique of the green screen technique also help to illustrate the lyrics to audience, for example when Theresa states 'you're not my cup of tea', the lyrics are visually illustrated to amplify the words. The phrase is amplified because it is important (related to the concept of the music video) At the same time the meaning of the concept is represented through this phrase.
From using green screen it helps indicate to the audiences that this is a pop genre because the use of visual image makes it very colourful, which meets the conventions of a pop genre. In addition it uses lots of pink/pastel colours, which makes it more appealing to female audiences.
This gave us some idea of what we would do for our music video.
Another idea includes the starry back drop, which makes the music video more conceptual because our music 'Off The Radar', explores the space theme through the lyrics, which also amplifies the lyrics.
How I could make this idea possible?
To make this idea possible we could use a projector in a dark room ie: Constellation projector or just using normal projectors used to connect to computers.
We could also purchase sticky stars that glows in the dark, which we could stick on the ceilings or walls to create different coloured glowing effects, which links in to the pop genre.
Finally, Green screening might be the most effective and simple method because using green screening means that we do not need to worry about the amount of lighting not coming through the camera in the dark room. Like in the music video you could clearly see the band members as well as the starry back drop.
Another possible theme maybe a circus theme because the circus fits in well with the pop genre and creates a more of a quirky effect to make it original. This makes reference to the group blog, where you could see some photo's of the recessing shots of a circus in a park, where we thought that it could be one of our potential location for our performance.
In the opening of the music you could see a dome glass ball and it cut's into a performance of the vocalist singing and with back up dancers as if they are inside the dome. I want to use this idea as well but replacing the dome with a planet possibly or just changing the mis en scene of what could be inside the dome with the starry back drops and other ideas that I have mentioned above.
The CGI images of the stars has also inspired me to use 3D effects programs to create a colourful poppy background. As well as linking to the theme to make it conceptual and conforming to the pop genre.
